Blog Week 5A

The three rhetorical gazes that are used in writing are the: Familial gaze, National gaze, and the Consumer gaze. The familial gaze reminds us that we are part of a small and immediate group. An example of this is belonging to a circle of friends or just being part of a family. The next type of gaze is the National gaze. The national gaze reminds us, when we see the logo that we belong to a greater group; for instance when we see a football team logo on another fans car, we are reminded that we are not that particular teams only fan. The last gaze in writing is the consumer gaze. The consumer gaze reminds us to buy certain things, or tells/shows us what we would like to buy. An example of this is commercials and magazines. Commercials and magazines often remind us of the things that we would like to buy. They want us to be interested in the product, so that we can buy it.

The picture that you see is an example of the consumer gaze.  It is the Coca-Cola ad and it is telling the consumer that when you drink this product you are more colorful. The little pictures inside the big heart are also saying that when you drink this product, you will have a greater life and you can do more things.
