When reaching an audience it is important to use some patterns of Definitions. The reason why we use definitions in order to reach an audience is to get the audience on track. When we use definitions we have to make sure that we are using the definitions in context to what we want to say. We use definitions to tell what something means, show how something works, make what we want to define more clearly, and what its essential nature is. Definitions can be textual and individual; therefore, we have to make sure that we define the words to what we want them to mean.   

Definitions can be used in many different ways with different context. Exemplification is when we use examples to show behaviorism. Through description we show what we are talking about in images, ads, verbally, graphs and charts, any visuals that help us explain what it is that we want our audience to understand. Compare and contrast is when we tell our audience what is the same and what is different. The process is explaining to the audience how something is done or created, in order to understand what is there. Classification and division shows the authority of something.

In reaching an audience it is important to use some of these patterns because in doing so, it will bring the audience closer to the author. Slang is now used all over the world, so when reaching an audience it is important to use these patterns in some form to get the audience to understand what the author is trying to say.
